The award-winning features print design team at The New York Times is responsible for the majority of the paper's weekly sections, including Arts & Leisure, Sunday Business, Styles, Book Review and Food. We are looking for an art director to join our team in the NYC office.You are an art director with a demonstrated talent for narrative visual storytelling. You have sophisticated typography skills, an eye for illustration and photography, and a proven ability to organize complex information to create engaging designs. You have strong project management skills experience taking lead on projects, while working collaboratively with other designers, editors and photo editors. Also, you are passionate about print — interested in generating visual-first story ideas and finding innovative ways to present digital-first content in the newspaper. You are familiar with digital presentation, considering the mobile experience when assigning illustration and animation. Ultimately, you are a team player, able to bring your enthusiasm to projects big and small.This is an in-office position, based in New York City, and includes regular attendance in the office up to four days each week.
